You'll have to start from scratch. You'll lose some sleep for a few days until your body clock resets itself, but you aren't getting much sleep now anyhow!
Get up at the same time every morning, even weekends. Don't drink caffeine drinks past noon. Don't nap!! Eat your dinner no later than 7 pm for a 10 or 11 pm bedtime, and avoid foods that are spicy, fried or drenched in fat. Avoid alcohol totally. Make a point of doing the same things before bedtime every night, so as to give your body 'clues' that it's bedtime. Only use your bed for adult activities and sleeping... no tv or reading in bed!
Go to bed at the same time each night, and if you don't fall asleep in 10 minutes, get up and do something light, such as read a boring book, or pet the dog. Just don't do anything that will get you revved up again mentally. After 15 minutes, try bed again. Repeat this pattern for a few days, and within a week your body clock should reset itself and you should sleep normally and without sleep aids. Remember, too,. that not everyone NEEDS to get 8 hours. My family are not only light sleepers, but have light requirements for sleep amounts. The story goes in my mom's family that if the rooster gets everybody up, then SOMEONE has to get the ROOSTER up! That's us! :)
If all else fails, you might try Valerian Root capsules as an herbal remedy for sleeplessness. Just know that they smell like dirty sweat socks and follow directions for quantity needed for your age and weight! Good sleeping !!

Well i will tell you now that taking sleeping pills or any thing like that is going to just make it worse, cause you get use to them and then when you go off of them, then you have a worse sleep problem. I would say in the evening try to kick back and relax, try to clear your mind, so it is not racing all of the time, listen to some soft music, or try reading a little bit, or just go out with some friend and enjoy you self , and let go of the stress that you are feeling, and all of the things on you mind.
Try some relaxation tech. if these don't work, then go to your doctor and he may have some more idea. Good luck with your sleep problem..Hope you find the right answer and can sleep, and get good sleep. So people i know in different countries would say have good sex,, and you will have good and relaxing sleep.
