I don't get it, either. You'd think they'd be praying for Satan's salvation, the way they pray for any other sinner's salvation, right? Aren't ALL things possible with God? If so, then the devil can be converted if enough Christianss pray hard enough! I guess they just don't have enough faith.
At any rate, here's a little verse to remember:
Isa.45:7 I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the LORD do all these things.
Wait, I thought SATAN created evil?? Oh, man, now I'm confuzzled!

i think that there is another word other than hate the best describes the "Church's" opinion of the devil, but I can not put my finger on it.
The devil is viewed as the source of temptation and the desire of forbidden lusts in our lives. So, naturally the "Church" frowns upon such things. Then the phrase "Hate the sin, love the sinner" comes into play. As Christians we hate sin, and forgive those who do.
Ironically, more Christians hate God than they do the devil. When a close relative dies, we don't say "Why Satan?" We yell "Why God?" Then stop going to church altogether because they do not want to "believe in a God who allows such bad things to happen."

long tale short: the devil is a Christian deity. different religions (that's, non-Judeo Christian religions) have not got a devil. once you're a Satanist, you're nonetheless worshipping a Christian determine. the extraordinary element is that devil is a fallen angel, meaning that there is sin obtainable in heaven.

Christians believe in one God; a Perfect God of Love. Love's meaning in the Webster's Dictionary is: the object of attachment, devotion, or admiration. Simultaneously, perfect means: being entirely without fault or defect. Christians also believe that God is the Creator of the Universe; which includes all living things (i.e. you and I).
Christians believe that Satin is evil. Evil means: to absorb or drain goodness. Christians believe that Satan is like a Black Hole that sucks all matter into itself; including all living things (i.e. you and I).
Therefore, God is an opposite of Satan. God admires and God gives, while Satan despises and Satan consumes.
The Bible states that Christians should "hate" evil.
Hate means (Webster): extreme dislike or antipathy.
Why? Becuase in order for life to continue living (according to their beliefs), life must stay alive. That means that life hates death. Do you want to die, yes or no? Your answer may serve as a real life experiment of how much life detests death. If Satan desires death through consumption, then that goes against a will to live, doesn't it?

Christians are taught to hate the sin not the sinner. The devil's the promoter of sin not a human in any form.

Well, if you look at things in an early western philosophical sense, then upon reasoning one would conclude that God was here in the beginning - as he is without end or beginning. Then, reasoning that God create the universe - everything literally. Every molecule every atom every thought every pain every joy... something cannot be created from nothing... substance is created from the creator, understand? Therefore, God create the devil and me and you and everything because every substance is created from something. Therefore, before everything existed that you know of today actually existed in God before the universe was created..... So, to totally love God as any Christian should then you as a Christian must love and embrace everything in the universe including the devil because this is all really part of God.... good luck with that.

AFTER THE 1000 YEARS A VERY OLD SATAN GIVEN MUCH TIME IS NO MORE
2Cor.4:3 But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost: 4 In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.
2Cor.11:14 Satan transforms himself into and angel of light.
1Pet.5:8 Satan is an adversary, as a roaring lion, seeking to devour.

Mick Jagger had some sympathy for him, but then again I don't think he's a Christian.
Christians hate the devil because they're told to hate the devil, and good Christians always do what they're told.

Good question. I think that the devil is a form of "thinking outside of the box", a form of revolution, questioning the existence of our reality, our belief system, our identity. People prefer the safety net of an illusion to create meaning and purpose to their existence. They will fight to keep this illusion. Developing hatred, fear and anger against any intrusion into their safe, cocooned illusion, is part of this fight.

It's not that we hate the devil, it's that he hates us. He has no chance of redemption, but we do, so he's seeking to steal souls from the Fathe, kill us spiritually, and ultimately destroy God's creation. We're just trying to be with the Lord, and he keeps saltin our game.
