okay so im a security officer in fresno, a family member is getting merried soon and wants a guard at the dinner/party im lic through the state im just wondering is it okay to do a privite deal like that or is it not legal and if it is what steps do i have to take its kinda stupid of a question being that i am a guard lol thanks in advance,

may i add its a family members wedding that i want to do because some one these companies want 500 to a 1000 for the nite

You are legal..BUT........... Most security companies have a bond or insuarance in case you do something and someone gets hurt. I would be wary of doing this...........

You are trained to deal with certain situations as a Security Guard and keep the peace. It is not illegal to monitor a private event, but it is liability for you if you do it on your own. If you are an employee of a company that provides Security Guards there should not be any problem.

Make sure you have backup instead of taking on more than you can handle... you can't be in more than one place at the same time. Security Guard to Security Guard.

You can work the security detail, but you are not covered by the company you work for, because you are NOT on duty officially.
