This happened after moving files to d drive. I'm really getting frustrated. I need to work on these files everyday.

It's possible the user you are logged in as has readonly permission to D: drive... try logging in as an administrator if you are not already.

Also, this might be a long shot, but this person had a problem with a partition becoming "read only" for unknown reasons, even for administrators. They solved it by:

"What I done was, shared the partition, with 'allow users to change files' ticked. Then unshared the partition, and everything is how it should be now."

Normally the D: drive is your CD/DVD disk drive. If your network admin set up the D drive as something to be accessed publically, then you need a new IT admin or get her to change it to Z or F or something else.
