My friend has a painting that I guess would be considered an "American West" type of genre. It is of a burly bearded man with horses and trees i think in the background. We researched and found that G. Bogard may be a pseudonym, G may stand for George and this man may have been friends with George Catlin, an American artist in the 1800's. Any help would be great.

Hey Christina ,

Here are my favorite sites to look at. Some are free, some you have to register, and others you have to register and pay. Another way would be to call a Fine Arts expert, at a gallery, or Art auction house. A few listed below, but there are literally hundreds of sites on the internet with phone numbers you can call or email addresses. Sometimes you have to grunt work like that to get the answer.

Artnet has 2 Bogard painters. Francios, and Dirk (Sir). While looking, nothing seemed to match your need... but hold out hope for these sites are where most artist get listed.

No artist named G. Bogard or George Bogard ever attained any fame or notoriety as an artist. Sorry. Enjoy the painting however.
