Your eyes should be just fine. I do it quite often and I just make sure I remoisturize my eyes once I wake up or take the lenses out all together. I wouldn't do this all the time, however if you're worried about it happening again there are contacts that you can keep in while you sleep. Ask your eye doctor about it.

It depends on what kind of lenses you have. My eye doctor does not think it's a good thing to do for extended periods of time, even if the lenses are supposed to be made for extended wear because (1) Your eye needs oxygen and (2) Keeping your lenses in for extended periods of time can encourage bacteria to grow.

I have the kind that are OK to wear for up to a month at a time, but I try to take them out every other night. I got into the bad habit of wearing them several nights in a row and ended up with an corneal ulcer. I didn't notice anything wrong with my eye until it suddenly became ver red and irritated. When I looked in the mirror I could see a white spot on my iris. I had to be on topical antibiotics and couldn't wear my lenses for about 3 wks. During my recovery my vision was blurry. I thankfully ended up getting all my vision back.

Probably 4 hrs once in a great while will not hurt you, though, but please be careful.

Most contact lenses are safe to sleep in. I would not suggest doing it all the time. But don't worry if you fall asleep somewhere or take a nap and forget that you have your contacts in. Just make sure that you take them out, giv e your eyes a break, possibly use some visine and put a FRESH pair back in. Good luck!

most likely not if it was only for a few hours. everyone falls alseep in their contacts. it really depends on what kind of contacts you have. some are ok to sleep in. the problem gets to be when you sleep in extremly dirty contacts. when i was younger i never took my contacts out to clean them after about 3 or 4 months i developed a type of ulcer on my eye. it was nothing serious the eye doc just gave me some antibiotic eye drops and it went away in a few days. if you are worried just call your eye doctor and ask them and they will tell you if they think you should come in.

Not if you did it only once. Don't do it all the time though, that is bad for your eyes b/c they cannot get enough oxygen. When they can't get enough oxygen the blood vessels in your eyes start doing funny things b/c they are trying to "look" for the oxygen they are not getting. This could cause permanent damage. But one time will not hurt.

Sleeping with contact lenses can damage your eyes, i have contact lenses myself, you see when you have your contact lenses in for long periods of time, they tend to literally stick to your cornea, so when you try to take them off the next day they literally rip part of that cornea, leading to more vision problems such a stigmatism, it can also cause infections because of fungus built up...not fun

I sleep with my lenses (I have the throwaways) in alot. It won't damage your eyes if you do it only once in a while, but really you're not supposed to. The last eye dr. I went to told me I was a contact lens "abuser" for sleeping with them. :)
So the answer to your question is NO. But try not to - it becomes a bad habit!

You should be ok. 4 hours usually won't hurt you. If they are not made for sleeping, then do not make a habit of it. There are many out there that allow more oxygen through them so that they are better for sleeping in. They still need to be taken out and cleaned.
Talk to your eye care professional.

Although I do not recommend it, I sleep with my contacts in quite often and my eyes are just fine. I have never had any problem with it. You should be ok, especially since it was just the four hours.

Good luck!
