Hey Linda,

If you know where and when they were married, then you can go to the town/city/county vital records keeper and fill out a request, pay for a copy, and there you have it. If you are not close to that location, they will most likely have a web site, with a form that you can mail (post). Here are some sites that could possibly have some information. If we knew your location this would be easier for us to give you.

You can find the Vital Record at your location online, by going to YAHOO SEARCH, and enter "VITAL RECORD ", where is the town or city or county where they were married. Cheers.

Assuming you are in the UK

1. If you live near where they were married, go to the local registry office. They will need the names, of course, as well as the date of the marriage. They will run you off a copy for £7.

2. If you don't live near, go to 1837online, buy some credits and by entering a name and a date you will be able to find the reference. This will be something like Paddington 1960 2nd quarter Vol3 page 345. On another page of the site you can order a certificate online for £7. It'll be with you in about a week.

If you are searching in England and Wales there are two ways but if you know where they were married
That is to say the registration district ( main Town ) and the Month of the marriage you can apply to that record office direct and they should do a minimum search for you and the cost would be approx £7

if you can add a bit more information I could probably help a bit more

Contact the city hall, courthouse, or vital records office in the city or state that they got married. They should be able to provide a copy of the certificate for a small fee.

Hello Linda, I have just seen your question, I would suggest that if you are in the UK, then www.ancestry.co.uk is the site you would need, you can do a free search on here, the life event records are from 1837-1983, or 4 and then they continue 1984-2004. Anything after 2004 isn't indexed yet. If you are in the USA, then you would need www.ancestry.com . If you would like me to get you the volume & page numbers then please email me. If you have a rough idea as to when they married that would help me find them. Good luck and I look forward to getting you started.

In UK we have a register of Births, Deaths and Marriages.

You would probably get instant success if you approach the Registrar of same in the town or city that your parents married.

I think a small fee is involved if you want a copy.

The Records Department of the area they got married in should be able to provide you with that information.
