I am looking at getting a boxer. My husband's family owns five boxers and all but one are males. It seems that the female boxer is much more calm, and loveable. The males are very affectionate also, but more energetic. The female is fairly young under two is this a female boxer trait or just an individual trait? She will play and run after a ball in the backyard, but seems more refined and has the run of the house while owner is at work and sleeps on the couch the whole time! Any boxer experiences would be great, and I know they are great with kids these are wonderful with my 19 m/o daughter.

We have a Boxer and couldn't be happier. I have had many dogs of many breeds over the years and IMO Boxers are the best family dog you could pick. The difference you notice in the female is mostly personality and not so much sex linked, both males and females can be calm or rowdy, depends on the individual.

I just recently got a male boxer puppy, he is now 11 weeks old. I did a TON of research on whether or not to get a male or female and i think most of what i read in books and online say it really depends on the individual. I did read that generally speaking the females tend to be a little more independent, and not as eager to please, therefore sometimes being harder to train. My male, Leo, is the most affectionate dog i have ever met. I personally don't think you can go wrong either way. Keep in mind the costs associated with getting a female fixed over a male. Either way, you will love your new Boxer!

In my opinion it would be the females individual trait, my Sister owns a boxer and even at 12 years old she is incredibly energetic and runs and jumps about like a lunatic!

I have had 2 male boxers. you are right they are great dogs. love kids but they take a little while to grow a brain. they have a mind of their own. they stay young minded and hearted longer than any other dog i have owned. although they make one of the greatest family pets i have ever owned. its worth the wait. they are loyal beyond measure and loveable as all get out. i don't have any experience with females though but my males i would take nothing for. someone could offer me millions of dollars for one of them and the answer would have to be no... i hope this helps. one of my males is now 4 yrs old and has calmed down alot. like i said it is worth the wait.

That is just a individual trait.....Button....my late female Boxer used to be full of energy.
I now have a male Boxer and for the first few weeks he was very mellow....now that he's a bit older.....he's a total clown and full of energy.

i think of it sounds magnificent. assorted good factors right here, you have a 2 year previous boxer who curiously have been given pregnant along with her first clutter at 9 months previous. large! Now you have left her along with her intact son and she or he's calling forward to her 2d clutter at age 2. large. I have not got any concept the way you discovered the time to coach her and get her breed ring championship in that element. You adult males have been busy. i think of continuring generations of non-wellbeing examined canines and then doubling up on those strains borders on stunning. not something to rigidity approximately right here. save up the large artwork.
