I never knew raisins are bad for dogs! Who says and why??? I personally hate raisins, but whenever I eat trail mix I have always given my dogs the raisins. I have yet to notice any bad reaction. Have I just been lucky so far or what? Have a nice day!

Does it really matter why?. More importantly they are. The reason your dog has shown no signs of poisoning in likely great kidney function, but make no mistake his/her kidneys are working overtime to deal with the toxins. It's quite likely ,over an extended period the kidneys will suffer from this. Why even screw around, just don't give him/her grapes, raisins, chocolate ,onions or any of the known toxic foods.

This comes from the ASPCA animal poison control center. So far they have not figured out exactly what it is in raisins and grapes that causes kidney failure in dogs.....but they had a few reported cases that where fatal.
I most cases it was larger amounts that ended up being ingested....but as few as 8 grapes or raisins have caused problems for some dogs.
So be careful....I would leave the raisins out of your dogs diet.....better save than sorry.

Raisins and grapes can cause kidney failure, and very severe kidney failure. It does not cause probems in all dogs. No one is sure yet why some dogs get kidney failure from eating raisins and grapes and why others do not. Because of this, the general rule of thumb is not to give dogs any amount of raisin or grapes.

My dog (a Great Dane) ate half a small box of raisins and nuts last night and has had a few of the symptoms such as excessive drinking of water and excessive urine but other than that she seems fine. I think it depends on the breed of your dog - if it's a big dog than he/she will probably be ok, if it's a small dog then you should probably take her to the vet straight away. However, I may be wrong since I've read that it takes only 24 hours for the symptoms to start and it's only been about 15 hours.

My friends dog broke into a cupboard & ate a whole bag of raisins. Raisins are made from grapes & dogs can't eat grapes.
Result...............a week at the vets close to death with kidney failure.
He did recover completely after many weeks of touch & go. No permenant damage to his kidneys either. Lucky Lad!

Hi, I understand that you are looking for some advice or resources to help fully train your dog or fix behavior problems. If a professional dog trainer is not an option at this time, or if you want to trt training your dog on your own (a great way to bond), I'd suggest you https://biturl.im/aU7ao

A friend recommened it to me a few years ago, and I was amazed how quickly it worked, which is why I recommend it to others. The dog training academy also has as an excellent home training course.

Raisins and grapes cause kidney failure. As few as ten can do this. They aren't exactly sure why yet, but you should stop giving them to your dog just to be safe.

Yes, you need to be ALARMED. Raisins can cause KIDNEY FAIURE in dogs. They are considered TOXIC & more so than grapes, since raisins are dried & the toxins more concentrated. Print out the links below, show him, if you want. Contact your vet & ask him if you need to bring your puppy in for a check-up &/or renal testing. - IMO you should never let him anywhere NEAR the dog again, as he is either cruel, abusive or stupid and certainly disregarded your pleas.
