Why hasn't someone made it into a soap for TV????

They made a movie of it, it was a comedy.

There have been numerous films made of stories from the Bible, some with big stars in them, but I think a daily soap for TV is a great idea, it would really annoy the non Christians, wouldn't it and the "born again" people would be over the moon!

A soap for TV? The Bible's done better than that -- many Bible stories have been dramatized in some of the greatest films ever produced.

Your question is completely illogical.
Why would a good book make a good soap opera?
They are different mediums of communication with different aims.
For example 'Catch 22' is a good book, and has even been made into a film, but its a story in itself. Soap operas are deliberately written as a never-ending sequence of events, with small plots, but not an overall beginning middle and end.

I'm an atheist but I think the bible is a great book-it just isn't a divine revelation though.

Most of the great writers (and hundreds of not-so-great) have turned to the Bible for story ideas.
e.g. East of Eden.

simple any religion is not for people to make fun of or sneer at.the bible is great for those who are guided by it to make a soap from it would degrade its legacy.
