The doctrine that the US used to win the Gulf war was based on an inspiration a US general got when the Israelis were describing the battle of the Golan heights.

Prior to that all countries thought of a three-dimensional battlefield. General DePuy realized that a battlefield actually existed in four dimensions - and created the 'Air-Land' battle concept to take advantage of this understanding.

As a result this battle inspired the most advanced warfighting doctrine in the world.
