2 of my 3 children (ages 3 and 7) have had bright green bowel movements within the past week. Are they eating too much of something?

Yes. FOOD COLORING....this always happens to my kids when they eat Fruity Pebbles or Froot Loops for a few breakfasts...seriously if they are eating brightly highly colored cereals like these cut them out for a few days an see what happens...then if you want to know for sure if that was the cause introduce them again...

he has eaten or drank something with an artificial blue colouring if the colour is bright green. If it's a darker green (army green) then it may be a sign of infection.. but most of the time it's a blue juicebox or something.. the body can't break-down artificial blue colouring

Take them to the doctors, they might have salmonella. When my daughter was 7months old (she is 12 now) she had this bright green stools and in hospital they diagnosed salmonella. To the day I do not know from where she got it as she was breastfeeding and only taking baby cereals. Her symptoms were green stools, high temperature after a few days and vomiting. Usually when one sibling has it the rest get infected with it, they need to go to the doctors just to be on the safe side. If they come up positive with antibiotics they will be fine although it takes a while to clear.

My daughter had the same problem and the doctor told us it was infection. When a child poops like that there's only two things wrong. One being the infection and the other the other being too much colored consumption.whether it be cereal,juices,kool-aids, high amounts of food coloring will also change the color of it.

It's definitely food coloring. Fruity Pebbles, Candy, Kool Aid...Don't worry, my kids had that issue too, and the doctor told me it was ok, that it had to do with food coloring.

It could be anything from a virus to something they ate. Do they drink a lot of Kool-aid or apple juice or grape juice? That could be a culprit.

It's something they are eating, but completely normal!
My kids always got a kick out of it - my son used to say he had pooped a turtle!
