I have had issues with spyware before and now I use 3-4 free anti-spyware softwares :). With 3-4 checking there is no way those annoying things can escape! You probably might not need that many but I'm being overly cautious, but at least in this way Im increasing the chance of finding them. I usually run adaware, windows defender and than spybot. All upto you.

List , descriptions and URL's below.

Adaware:-

Ad-Aware Personal remains the most popular anti-spyware product for computer users around the world, with nearly one million downloads every week. Our free anti-spyware version provides you with advanced protection against spyware that secretly attaches and takes control of your computer

Spybot:-

http://www.spybot.info/

Spybot - Search & Destroy detects and removes spyware, a relatively new kind of threat not yet covered by common anti-virus applications. Very popular and very good.

Windows Defender:-

http://www.microsoft.com/athome/security/spyware/software/default.mspx

Windows Defender is a free program that helps protect your computer against pop-ups, slow performance, and security threats caused by spyware and other unwanted software. Microsoft recently beefed up its free antispyware app with new tools and other improvements, but the verification process is annoying. Still, if your operating system is compatible, Windows Defender provides excellent protection.

Hijack this:-

If your spyware-removal arsenal has failed to defeat a particularly insidious intruder, this program could be your last hope. While you may need to consult a Web-based forum to make sense of the program's scans, this program will spot almost all potential threats.

Both the Spybot and Adaware sites that have been listed are very good sites. Spybot used to be rated as the best free spyware program by PC Magazine. I believe they were replaced by Adaware the last time I looked. Microsoft Defender is also rated pretty high and you can get that right odd Microsoft's Web Site.

I recommend Spybot Search & Destroy or Microsoft Defender....both are free.

Spybot = www.safer-networking.org
Defender = http://www.microsoft.com/athome/security/spyware/software/default.mspx

You can configure Spybot to run automatically as well, there is an article telling you how at;
