I thought more people would read the link, which is what got me interested in this question in the first place.

I have to agree with the article. I don't always try to look nice each morning, but I do try to keep myself looking decent, in shape, and at least smear lipstick on each morning. At 27 years old, the last thing I want is for someone to say I look like a mommy of 3! I love my children, but I don't want to be defined by my parenting role. I was me before they ever came along, and hopefully I still dress like I care about my clothing. I hate mommy jeans!

Wow, maybe I should be that woman in the link. I just wish I had the time although I do go to the gym.

I had a woman ask me the other day if my kids are teenagers. My kids are 3 1/2 and 15 months. I immediately made an appointment to get my hair colored. I was upset by that comment.

If you are pregnant, and someone comments that you look it, it is a compliment. If you are not pregnant, don't take offense, but consider why people think your pregnant, and fix it.

Anyway, alot of mothers now a day are becomming hipper, and more fashionable. So I don't see a problem with someone saying you look like a "mommy". I do see a problem if they say that you look like the "mommy" of 8 kids - the oldest of which is 43.

Not really a compliment, but if I'm at the park actively playing with the kids how am I supposed to look? There is a time and a place for high heels, cute suits and a fancy purse but most of the time stay at home moms aren't dressed in business casual clothing. At work it's one thing, at the playground is another.

I have NEVER carried a nasty diaper bag (mine is Coach), had cheerios in my hair in public or worn nasty old tennis shoes. There is a happy medium. I wear nice clothes, make up, jewelry and own several pairs of new shoes.I do cardio every day and look damn good in my clothes too. But I exercise with my kids, not at the gym while they are in daycare.

I believe the writer is trying to slight stay at home moms. She seems to be favoring moms that have to dress in more business-like attire 5 days a week, who probably put their kids in daycare.

She didn't mention anything about getting dirty playing softball with her kids, or how the sand in her shoes didn't matter because she had a blast making sandcastles with her kids.

I wonder how much time she spends buying her kids nice clothes? What about good haircuts for the kids? What about her children's appearance, or is she the only one that counts?

Deeply superficial woman.

Ilove my kids, even though theyre not all here yet. And i love the thought of being their mom.

being called a milf would be a nicer compliment, but i wouldnt find "you look like a mommy" offensive.

I don't really look my age (almost 36) so I find it extremely flattering when people are surprised to find out that I have a duaghter almost 15...but I haven't ever had anyone tell me that I LOOK like a mom, I don't wear "mom" jeans or anything...LOL.

Well it depende. Do you want to look like a mommy?

It depends on what their intent is. For example, if you happen to be chubby, and someone said this to you, they be be trying to be sarcastic, and subtly telling you look FAT.
