You can confess your sins to whoever wants to listen. But, there is only one that can do anything about it. God, is the only one that can forgive us of our sins. Confessing your sins to others to help you be accountable is a good practice as long as you understand that true forgiveness only comes from God.

I confess them to God, through a priest -- which is the way Christ intended it.

Christ told the apostles, "When you forgive sins, they are forgiven; when you hold them bound, they are held bound."

Obviously, He meant this authority to rest with those who would lead the Church in the future -- since He knew full well that the apostles would not live on this earth forever.

And, just as obviously, He meant that people's sins should be told to the apostles. Otherwise, they'd have no way of knowing which sins to forgive in God's name, and which ones to hold bound.

Nobody since I don't sin. I make mistakes that I take responsibility for and learn the lesson I am suppose to. I know I have learned the lesson when my behavior changes.

Acts 14:22 they appointed presbysters in each church

"But that you may know that the Son of man hath power on earth to forgive sins....."Matthew 9:6 ; Mark 2:10 ; Luke 5:29

Jesus alone is not just the only sacrifice for sin , but also He alone holds the power to forgive sin. Some people suggest that the church has the authority to forgive sin.But if the church is a cesspool this could hardly hold water.A priest cannot do it for there is only one mediator between God and man which is Christ Jesus. And certainly not Mary because she needed redemption herself.

As a Christian I believe that you do not have to confess your sins to anybody except Jesus. If you are ready to turn from your sins and believe in Jesus Christ so that your sins will be forgiven, and you will have eternal life, then bow your head and pray a prayer something like this:
God, I'm sorry for my sin. I turn from it right now. I thank you for sending Jesus Christ to die for my sin. Jesus, I ask you to come into my heart and life right now. Be my Lord, Savior and friend. Help me to follow you all the days of my life as your disciple. Thank you for forgiving and recieving me right now. Thank you that my sin is forgiven and that I am going to heaven. In Jesus' name I pray , amen.
Now if you have said this prayer Congradulations! God has forgiven your sins and you are going to have everlasting life:)

Both.

It is biblical to confess your sins to God for forgiveness, and it is biblical to confess your sins to others for forgiveness and accountability.

The first priority is to confess to God to maintain fellowship with him.

Both. The Bible says, "confess your sins to one another" (James 5:16).

I confess my sins to myself. Only I can change the errors and inadequacies within me.
