On holiday last year I had an Italian dish, but have forgotten the name of it. It was strips of beef, in cream and mushroom sauce, with pasta ribbons. I would like it again, but don't know what to ask for.

As you were in Italy and Beef Stroganoff is not a traditional Italian dish, it is Hungarian. I think it was possibly Pasta Carbonara which is Italian and made with pasta ribbons, mushrooms and either smoked bacon or smoked ham in a cream sauce.

i've checked my 2 italian cookbooks and uktv food site and can't find anything of that description, though. good luck!
