Yeah but he could be allergic to the lunch you packed him too. Or the new sweater he got for Christmas. Or the non-menthol candy he took with him. Or maybe that gum he's chewing is laced with LSD. Maybe they should take kids away when they are born and lock them in a sterile compound, just to be on the safe side.

this is really dumb rule, im 16 and i have grown up with this idiotic rule and i feel that if kids have a cough or sore throat, instead of going to the nurse every five minutes, let them bring in their own supply of coughdrops. i think this is the dumbest rule ever.

I find it a little overboard. Especially for a kid that has an ongoing cough and is okay to be in school. At my kid's school's they won't allow cough drops, and they will not allow a water bottle at the kids desk either! So should we keep them home for a week or so until the persistent cough goes away since the teacher's don't seem to care if the kids are having a cough attack? If that was the case my daughter would have missed alot this year!

My kids teacher will only give them 3 scheduled chance's to use the restroom during the day (break, lunch and PE), if they need to go any other time than that they get punished by having recess taken away! I've talked to the principle but nothing has changed. Ridiculous!

My answer to your question is no, because there are some children that may be allergic to cough drops, or they may be taking a medication that a cough drop could conflict with. Even though it is only a cough drop it still has a chemical compound (make up).

For the school, it has to be about safety.

The school go overboard because of lawyers they fear they will be held responsible if your child shares with a friend and the friend has an adverse reaction.
