I am in DC also! Sorry about your loss.

You should try downtown at the health & human services. Also look up Social Security services. There are not that many options for this & the few that there are, will not help a large amount.

Your best bet would be if they were working, try contacting the HR dpt of where they worked. Most likely, they had a group life coverage through the job.

The one extra thing that you should do once you take care of that matter is: take this time to make sure that you protect your loved ones by insuring yourself so that they would not have to go through this same thing!

You can file for a one time social security death benefit of $255 or something like that, then you have to go to your church & family for help.
