Pull ups work :the latissimus dorsi(lats), the pectoralis major(pecs) long head of the Triceps , part of the deltoid and the trapezius.

Dips work : Pecs. , anterior fibres of the Deltoid, and triceps.

based on your description, I would say lats, delts, triceps, and traps.
