This going to seem Too simple ..... but I would start with a salad, then bring on your wonderful soup - with some fresh hard crust bread for dunking - and use that as your main course. Go with your strong suit .. and enjoy your wonderful soup.

I agree with Chef Bob: if the soup is delicious and reasonably hearty, let it be the star of the meal. A nice salad will round it out perfectly. If you want something slightly more substantial than plain bread on the side, slice a baguette about an inch thick and toast the slices in a 375-degree oven for about 10 minutes, or until they're turning golden at the edges. Take them out and rub the surface of each one VERY lightly with the cut side of a garlic clove. Put them back on your baking sheet and scatter some grated Provolone over the top surfaces, then finish with a little grated Parmesan. Return to the oven just until the cheeses are melted. If you really want to gild the lily, you could scatter them with some shredded basil leaves as they come out of the oven.
Have a lovely dinner!

I think some stir-fried Cajun/Spicy rice with beans, basil, and tomato would be nice.
Here's the recipe:
1 cup long grain rice
4 tbsp olive oil
1 green bell pepper, seeded and chopped
1 red bell pepper, seeded and chopped
1 onion, finely chopped
1 small red or green chili, seeded and finely chopped
2 tomatoes, chopped
2/3 cup canned red kidney beans, rinsed and drained
1.5 tbsp chopped fresh basil
2 tsp chopped fresh thyme (or 1 tsp dried thyme)
2 tsp Cajun spice
salt and pepper
fresh basil leaves, to garnish
Cook the rice in plenty of boiling, lightly salted water for about 13 minutes, until just tender. Rinse with cold water, and drain well.
Meanwhile, heat the olive oil in a skillet, and fry the red and green bell peppers and onion gently for about 5 minutes, until softened.
Add the chili and tomatoes, and cook for 2 minutes more.
Add the veggie mixture and red kidney beans to the rice. Stir well to combine thoroughly.
Stir the chopped herbs and Cajun spice into the rice mixture. Season to taste with chopped herbs and pepper, and serve, garnished with basil leaves.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Serve with some baguette bread (the kind that has the butter/garlic/onion flavor). Put some olive oil with ground pepper on the side for the "dipping" sauce.
Serve with some fresh sorbet, or some whipped cream in a glass, with lady fingers at the bottom, and some strawberries on the top (romantic).
Good luck!

50ml white wine
Finely chop the onion and fry in the oil until see through. Ad the rice and fry for 2 minutes stirring constantly. Add the wine and then 200ml boiling water and the bouillon. Cook until all of the water is absorbed and add the peas. Keep adding water in small quantities until the rice is soft.

Homemade garlic-cheese bread: - side 1 1 cube real butter 3-4 cloves garlic, minced extra sharp cheddar cheese or shredded parmesan cheese (found by the deli) Saute together garlic and butter about 5 minutes. Spread on fresh sliced french bread with a pastry brush. Heat under the broiler until light brown. Add cheese to each piece. Reheat just until cheese is melted, but not brown. Yummy!! ========= Tanzanian Baked Bananas 4 large, ripe, unpeeled bananas 2 tablespoons melted butter 3 tablespoons packed brown sugar 1 teaspoon lemon juice Ice Cream, for serving Preheat the oven to 425 degrees F or prepare barbeque grill. Cut off the ends of the bananas. Place the unpeeled bananas on an ungreased cookie sheet or in a baking pan or place the bananas on the lightly oiled rack of barbeque grill. Bake or grill for 15 minutes, or until the skins burst and turn black. Discard the skins and cut the bananas lengthwise. Mix the butter, brown sugar, and lemon and drizzle over the cooked bananas. Serve with ice cream. **************************************... Stuffed Chocolate and Peanut Butter Baked Bananas 4 whole bananas 4 tablespoons peanut butter 4 ounces semisweet chocolate chips Preheat oven to 450 degrees. Lay the bananas so the ends are pointing up. Using a knife, cut a slit down the inside top so you can open it like an envelope, careful not to rip open the peel. Spread 1 tablespoon of peanut butter inside each banana and sprinkle with chocolate chips. Close the peel of the banana up and wrap the entire banana in aluminum foil. Place the bananas on a baking sheet and transfer to the oven to bake, about 10 minutes or until the insides of the banana are soft and warm and the chocolate is melted

Why not stir fry some mixed vegetables? That always goes good with soup, and you can add a variety for different flavors. Or you can always try yellow rice.
