Sounds like she may have allergies, if you are ABSOLUTELY sure she doesn't have fleas.

Look at the food you are feeding her. If it's something you buy at the grocery store, you need to switch brands. Start feeding a high-quality dog food and that should help her skin. I recommend Nutro brand dogfood because of the quality ingredients. In fact, Nutro guarantees that feeding their food will improve your dog's skin and coat!

You may also want to purchase an oatmeal shampoo for dogs. This will help heal her skin and stop the itching.

If she keeps scratching after a soothing bath and a food change, she may need to be seen by the vet. Additionally, if at any time, she begins to lose hair or has open sores, take her in to the vet.

Good luck!

There are alot of reasons why your dog is ichy. If its not fleas, it could be an allergy to her food. Many dogs have an allergy to wheat, a common ingredient in most dog foods. You could switch her to a wheat free food, Nutro is what I use. Also, she could just be reacting to the colder weather. Just think how dry our skin gets in the winter time. The heat goes on in the house, and our skin gets really dry, same thing with the dogs skin. Try an oatmeal shampoo made specifically for dogs, and let her soak in it for 15 minutes. That should make her feel better. If that doesn't work, then go to the vet. Provided she isnt scratching herself raw, youve got a little time to try to work this out on your own, before paying a massive vet bill for him to tell you what i just did.`

My brothers dog does a similar thing and he has been classified as having allergies. To what I do not know...Also if you gave your dog a bath recently you might not have gotten all the shampoo out so that might be making her itch also. Have the vet see about allergies if you call and get an appt. But try and rinse your dog off just to see if there is any soap still left on her skin. Good luck, I hope this helps!

I would start off by changing her shampoo. She might be having an allergic reaction to it. Look at her skin closely to see if she has some kind of irritation. If she has a skin irritation, sometimes you can buy stuff from the store that you would use on yourself to fix it. If it looks real bad, take her to the vet so they can give her something for it. A shot of ivermectine is real good for scratching and skin problems. Make sure your vet knows what he is doing before suggesting it. It could be the food that she is eating too. Do you wear a collar on your dog? If so, take it off before going to bed. Try one thing at a time until something works for you. If nothing ever does work then, call your local vet and ask them what you can do about it. If you have to, try buying her a seperate little bed so, atleast you will get your sleep.

I think if fleas were present you'd see them or at least the dirt (blood) left behind. It's most likely an allergy to something in it's environment be it food or cleaners...ect. I the worst case senario is some type of mange....only a vet will be able to tell you for sure, these mites are microscopic. You'll want to get some relief to the pup before it drives her crazy...and so you can get some sleep!

I have a poodle mix that itches a lot, too. He has a condition called "myoderma" that many poodles get. it's not fleas, and it's not anything you're doing wrong. There are medicines to help him stop being so itchy. Call your vet, or better yet, take her in for an appointment. They can probably prescribe something for her.

It may be dry skin or can be caused by poor diet. A better quality of dog food can improve her skin and coat. Try something that has meat as atleast the two main ingredients, not meat by-products. Dog food that contains corn or other grains as the main ingredient are not so good for pets since they are carnivores. Or adding fish oils to her food could help also. I've also read that Alpha Keri lotion might help too.

My advice is to check again and be certain. If she still itches take her for a check up, its better to be safe than sorry. If you cant afford to bring her to the vet check her yourself thoroughly for flea/ticks. If you dont find anything , stop worrying. But you can always go to a pet store and the clerks will assist you. There advice are free.

Sounds like she has an allergy to something. You can give her benadryl for the itching but you will need to talk to your vet for the dosage, as it will vary with the breeds and weight. (i see that you put that on there, thank you. however you need to get the dosage from your vet, so your vet has an idea as to what is going on just in case you need to take her in for this at some point.) Most vets will give you advise for free over the phone.

GOOD LUCK!!!

The vet should be your first stop. Moisturizing shampoo would certainly help. Thorough rinsing of any product from the skin of your pet is highly recommended as well as towel drying not hair dryer-ing! Think of it this way- if it was your skin what would you do? She could be suffering from allergies or skin conditions (poodles are prone to these) or it could be nerves(doubtful). Your vet would know best.
