If you have plans of becoming a couple one day, I wouldn't do it for the simple fact that it might become something he expects all the time. And when he feels like you don't provide those 'expensive' things anymore then he'll feel like you don't care about him anymore.
I would only do it if you have the money to continue treating him with nice gifts.
If you only are friends, then why not. If you care for your friend that much, I don't see a problem with that. I just warn you. As I stated before, if you want him and you to become an item then I would hold off on this type of present.

This has nothing to do with dominance or your being a female. If you don't know his feelings for you, do you really want to BUY his emotions? If you're not a couple yet, I would suggest doing something rather than buying something for Valentine's Day. When you're actually a couple...then think about this.

How would you feel if you gave it to him and you still never became a couple? If you would do it for him anyway, then go ahead. But if you're hoping for something more from this, you're doing it for the wrong reasons.

Get some spelling lessons, and impress him with your new found ability to use the English language. That would impress me more than any material gift.

To be dominant, you must spell correctly. Proper English helps.

If you want to be dominant, make him beg for it.
Otherwise, he could take advantage of you genuine generous gesture.
