Let him do the time. It doesn't matter how close you were to completing probation, if you are violated, you are violated. And, if it was only for not reporting, I would be surprised, or he missed a lot of appointments to report. His life isn't over, so let him do the time. It will either educate him, or it will not.

As far as getting jumped for his shoes, get him some cheap shoes no one would want. Actually, his shoes were likely taken to let him know he is not the big fish in that sea. Even in prisons, there is a caste system. Being young, and just coming in, he is at the bottom of the totem pole. They just let him know that.

If he was offered two years, he should probably take it. With good behavior, he will likely not do half of that. It might just be the medicine he needs to straighten up. Or it might not.

Unfortunately, your brother put himself in that situation. No lawyer's gonna be able to help him anyway so save your energy. As far as the sneakers are concerned, he may just have to take that as a loss. That's part of "life on the inside." He can file a complaint to the warden about his sneakers, but I really don't think that'll do much good either. Sorry!

In what way do you want to help him? He chose to not report to his probation officer. Unfortuantely the penalty for that is jail. I don't know how a lawyer would help. I'm sorry about what happened to him in prison. Maybe you could contact the warden.

He brought it on himself but I am sorry that he's having such a rough go of it.
He can get a lawyer from the public defender's office but it is pretty hard to file a defense in a parole violation situation.

Your brother broke the law, and now he must pay the price. I'm sorry for you and your family, but your brother is a selfish jerk for doing this to you.
Send him a new pair of sneakers. Get the cheap ones at WalMart so he doesn't get jumped again.

If he had done what he was supposed to for his crime (report) then he'd be DONE.....but since he didn't meet the requirements of his sentence - this is what happens.

Nuttin you can do. He screwed up and hopefully he won't do it again when he gets out.

there is nothing you can do. He violated his probabtion and knew the consequences. He's going to have to make the best of it and deal with prison. You can call around to some attorneys. alot will do pro bono (free) work from time to time so you might get lucky, but you got to start looking for a lawyer to do that.

Your brother is 24 and is an adult. He was fully aware of his responsibilities. It is not up to his family to fix the problems he created. You should let him know that you love him but he should also know that his family is dissapointed in him and that he has to deal with the consequences of his actions.

Not a great deal you can do for him. It was his choice not to report and he knew what could happen if he didn't. He will have to complete his two years. Hopefully he will learn something from this experience...........
