Well, being claustrophobic myself, and consequently, dreading the series of MRIs I needed many years ago, I can relate. I don't need the MRIs anymore, but I can tell you if I had been offered the option of the walk-in...I would have jumped at it.

Yes, the "tube" does cause claustraphobia in some pts. This is why they came up with the idea of the "upright" MRI machine. Most pts state that the upright machine is much better. Also, some docs will prescribe medication "one time only" to help the pt relax during the procedure.
