Islam and Christianity? which is more Tolerant?

Question

I am speaking of the religion, not the actions of people today.

Why is it that people say islam is intolerant. when it clearly says non muslims will enter heaven as long as they believe in god and do good in the world. while at the same time christians say the only way to enter heaven is through Jesus?

So which is more tolerant?

I agreee with sunflower, I don't think anyone is going to give you a 100% unbias answer including your question.
Would you tell us the sura or vers that says all people will go to heaven. In Islam it says that the most dweller in hell are women, and non muslims. look it up.
and no Islam is not tolerant. I will give you some examples:
Have you been to Makka or the Medina. How many non muslims have you seen walking around. I will help you out. Zero. It is illegal for non muslims to enter those cities. No tolerant.
Did you know it is illegal to preach other religions in Muslim countries, they are punishable by deportion, impersonment or death.
Did you know that those who convert from Islam to other religion are legally punishable with death, and so says your own prophet in the Hadith.
Did you know that a man can legally hit his women, and not much can be done about it.
Did you ever hear about Honor killing. That is in Islam.
Did you know that one of the way a Muslim can ensure going to heavan is by killing a non muslim for jihad, for the sake of Islam and his prophet!

Islam does NOT mean peace. It means submission. To submit to Allah and his prophet. Why are musims supose to submit to Muhammad. An imperfect sinner. to Allah I can understand that, but Muhammad, No. Did you know that he himself did not know that he will go to Heavan!! probably you didn't, and you will accuse me of lying. Don't take my words. Look them up for yourself.
How do you think Muhammad got Maria the Coptic, his slave! She was a payment from a king, so as your prophet will leave him alone. That king didn't want to convert to Islam, so he sent him two women, and one of them was Maria, and Muhammad took the most beautiful of the two. Does that sound tolerant to you. No.

I can give you many more, but I think I angered you enough. Not my intention. I know many peaceful Muslims, and they are peaceful not because of the religion but inspite of it.

Quite frankly, both religions ( beliefs, morals) are quite tolerant, but, for neither is very tolerant... Have you heard the evangelical right lately, the so called born again Christians? They aren't very tolerant, even among themselves. As a matter of fact, the first HOLY WAR was started by the Catholic Church, against Muslims and Jews... Ever hear of the Spanish Inquisition, carried out by the Catholic Church?

I think the most tolerant religion ( and it is not a religion) is Budhism, which teaches, TREAT ALL MEN AS IF THEY WERE YOUR MOTHER, YOUR BROTHER, YOUR FATHER, YOUR SISTER, BECAUSE AT ONE TIME THEY MAY HAVE BEEN.

Well just b/c one knows the only way to heaven (Jesus).. it doesn't mean that a religion cannot be tolerant. You see... what seperates Jesus from other gods is that besides Him being the only true Way and the Son of the Living GOD.. Jesus is a character that wants relationship with His people. Allah wants obedience and justice only but doesn't express love.. just anger. I don't want to call on a god who doesn't have an interest in how I feel sometimes and what I'm going thru b/c what then is the purpose for a higher power??????? We as a human race don't need more rules and regulations and recipes on how to get to 'paradise'... we need a God that can rescue us from the evilness of this world and the confusion of ourselves... we need Truth and direction.

"Hebrews 3:12 Take heed, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief, in departing from the living God." Christianity teaches that unbelievers are evil (and going to hell) which leaves little room for tolerance. Islam is even worst regardless of the reality that. Islam obviously teaches the Muslims might want to salary bloody wars adverse to non-believers. do not enable human beings fool you into believing that Islam is a faith of peace.

Islam and christian came from the same source they are both calling for same values and honoring human.and put rules for to control people but not to restrict their freedom
so Islam is continuing what Jesus start.

Back up another step, and compare Scriptures with "churchianity" The Messiah died that ALL might live. He called Abraham to be a light to ALL the peoples. That is pretty inclusive (and tolerant) but those things that are an abomination to Him, are unacceptable. We are to love what YHVH loves, and hate what He hates. That is what it means to be in harmony with Him, and only thus can we have peace with Him.

well i heard before from christian holyman that u dont have to believe that jesus is a god to go to heaven ,,so by commen sense be a muslim and take no risk :D,,,,,,,,any way fast comparison in tolerance (with all due respect to every one and every releigen)there is no diforce in christianity but still people forget about religion when it comes to that,,they believe in evolution theory and forget about religion and its story about adam and eve,,,i agree these two religion r so much alike,,,they came from the only god ,,in other hand muslims can diforce but still mariege is a very sacred pact and not taken easy,,so we still have the lowest divorce,rape,sexual hurrasment,rate in the whole world,,women walk safe at night here but in us its life or death,,,we dont believe in evolution theroey,,,the source of all human is adam and eve and no monkey,,and for ur answer god created u fed u gave u every thing and all wht he askes is to believe in him remember people we r slaves to god,,some people dont like this word SLAVES,,yes we r slave to god and u must feel the pride in it,,u r not slaves to human or cows or sun or ur boss ,,u r slaves to the almighty who created every thing ,,sry for being so chatty :))

Blanket questions like this one can be dangerous...

But I will offer one example that was shocking to me. My church sends out missionaries to teach people about the gospel of Christianity. If someone accepts the message, they can be baptised and join my church. However, the missionaries have a rule that they cannot baptise muslims from the middle east. The reason for this rule that I was told is that if Muslim with family in the Middle East converts to Christianity, his/her family will KILL them if they return home and their conversion is found out.

That doesn't sound like tolerance to me...but I could be wrong...
