Mother in laws are the Matriarchs of their family. It is up to them to keep things running smoothly, keeping the family together at all costs...
This last statement has to be the one that causes trouble, as they stop at nothing.
They interfere, put in their 2 cents worth, and manipulate situations when they feel their family unit is being threatened. The Matriarch actually governs how the family does, good or bad, it is her influence that makes or breaks the relationship between her son or her daughter to their partner.
She can be a positive or negative force. She is determined to challenge anyone who tries to spoil her family in any way.
For these reasons, I believe that m-in-laws can be a big part of the stats contributing to broken marriages.

Mother in laws are a pain in the a**! Sticking their nose where it doesn't belong, giving unwanted advice, filling your kids full of sugar and then bringing them home, critisizing every move you make, from how the dishes are done to the way you raise your children. oh how i could go on! not that I'm bitter or anything ;P

LOL Ya I call my mother in-law and the rest of them OUTLAWS. Probably because your always gonna fight to be better then the mother in everything you do. You will never be able to take that place...for some reason men are so attached to their mother and I'm sure that pisses alot of girls off.They all should be named outlaws for the simple fact that they don't really want to be your family...they just always want to be #1.

Mothers-in-law can be terrible if they never grew up and discovered the magic of letting-go. It has nothing to do with not careing. And you get so much more back if you just let somebody be.

Because they interfere and thing no-one is good enough for their son/daughter.. They are to answer for your wife/husbands insecurities as they started in childhood also how your wife/husband has a relationship with you comes from how their parents relationship with each other was.. They have plenty to answer for and if they start to meddle make it quite clear to them LOOK BUTT OUT. Mines would take money from my partner so he was keeping her going and me and my kids where losing out and she wasnt embaressed when I brought it up.. They have no scruples and can see no wrong in their offspring!!

my mother -in-law and i get along ,her son and i were raised really different and she thinks they way they grew up is the only way but she has a good heart

i woudn't say too many. I think that most views of mother in laws are overexaggerated from television.
