The food is NEVER covered, and sometimes stuff even worse happens.
I went to a salad bar once, and a boy just picked an olive out of the container. He then didn't like it, and just spit it back into the container. Also, they don't even change the food. Sometimes, they just cover the salad add-ins, and let it sit 'till the next day, when people eat it.
Also, the thing about salad bars is that EVERYONE touches the stuff.
Overall, my point is that salad bars are NOT germ free at all.

right here in Scotland, we've had coin trolleys for years. you should use a £a million coin/a million Euro or a particular token in the slot. It became meant to provide up vandals from eliminating the trolley and dumping it someplace, yet that still takes position, yet per chance no longer a lot. Self-service checkouts - properly, do not get me began on them lol. I actually have tried using them on 2 or 3 activities and could honestly no longer bypass close to them back. it truly is meant to be quicker than the manned checkouts, besides the undeniable fact that it takes me two times so long because the ingredient keeps bleeping at me and telling me to re-test and goodness is responsive to what else and that i eventually end up getting all aggravated. Then I even ought to get an assistant to go back and help me. i'm a lot quicker only going to the conveyor belt checkouts. I hate some thing automatic and far choose the personalized effect.

Not...really all that much. It is an open air environment, after all. Most of the time it comes prepackaged from a processing plant, too. At any step of the way, it can become contaminated. Washing isn't as effective with plants as with meat, due to the many folds in the lettuce. Then, add in that ANYONE, clean hands or not, can handle the food. Sneeze guards only help with tall people...
But take heart! There are less bacteria that enjoy a nice, cold salad then enjoy a nice steak! Still, you are better off preparing your salads at home.

Great question! I never really thought about it! I never actually get salad, but sometimes I'll grab a few hot wings at the salad bar, but not after this!

I wouldn't touch them! The so-called sneeze guards don't really guard against anything that may come from the customers e.g. droplets of saliva or nasal mucus.....
Maybe an EHO has sent some samples for testing and knows what organisms could be present.

Since everyone has their unwashed hands in there it's not germ free.
