Why does Bagdad keep allowing cars to come inside the city?

can't they along with our military set up some kind of checkpoints and a bus system for people that have to come to the city and shoot down any other vehicles that try it. Wouldn't that help curtail car bombs

THIS IS THE BEST WAY TO WIN IN BAGHDAD:

YOU HAVE TO TELL EVERYONE TO COME OUT OF THE CITY AND EMPTY BAGHDAD. BUILD A GIANT FENCE-PROTECTED REFUGE CAMP AND PUT ALL THE PEOPLE THERE.

THEN 45,000+ U.S. TROOPS WILL SWARM THE CITY AND SEARCH EVERY FREAKING BUILDING ONE BY ONE.

I AM SURE 98% OF ALL BOMB MATERIALS WOULD BE RECOVERED. METAL DETECTORS SHOULD BE USED ON FLOORS AND WALLS OF EACH ROOMS TO FIND HIDDEN STORES OF AK-47'S, BOMB PARTS, AND TIMERS.

BATTLES MAY OCCUR WITH INSURGENTS HIDING BUT THEY CAN BE KILLED.

AFTER THAT, THE MILITARY MUST POSITION A MINIMUM OF 3 MEN ON EACH BUILDING WITH FOOD/SUPPLIES/BIG GUNS/BINOCULARS/ETC.

AT THE SAME TIME A GIANT WALL/TRENCH SHOULD BE BUILT AROUND BAGHDAD.

THE ENTRANCES WILL BE SUPER SECURE AND ONLY FEW IN NUMBER.

THEN THE PEOPLE CAN BE LET IN.

CALL MY PLAN OUTRAGEOUS AND EXPENSIVE AND OUT OF PROPORTION BUT I SWEAR BAGHDAD WOULD BE FREED FROM INSURGENCY.



PS: AFTER THIS, ONLY THE MOST LOYAL IRAQI TROOPS SHOULD BE ALLOWED IN TO MAINTAIN LAW AND ORDER.

Perhaps your plan would somewhat curtail car bombs, but Bahgdad is a large city and it is difficult to navigate any city without some kind of transport. Car bombs would give way to Bus bombs, or simle walking suicide bombers. There are already checkpoints all over the city.

There is a curfew at night and on Fridays. These people still need to live their lives.

By creating a bus structure as you propose, it leaves civilians open waiting for a bus and a target for other attacks.

There are already checkpoints in this city. Some are used to legitimately control traffic and search vehicles and other are used to cut off the Sunnis and slowly choke them out.

We are working for their freedom so why would we want to take away their vehicles?

thats a very good idea. Have soldiers on the buses to search people getting on and ban all cars used by civilians. The only downside would be there wer more people on the streets but they should make the buses free or very very cheap

I think the city is just so massive, and most of it is still quite viable, that it would choke the city if they would even be able to stop cars within it.

Because they don't necessarily drive on the roads all the time.

If you did this, they would find another way in.
