You should be on a good SSRI. If you're on a high enough dose of a good SSRI the possibility of your having a panic attack will be considerably reduced. If you should have a panic attack, for me, 1mg of Xanax stopped the attack. Xanax should be considered an emergency panic breaker. Xanax is addictive and your body can develop a tolerance to it. It's only good for stopping attacks not to keep you under control. You don't want to become a drug addict.

Be careful with Xanax. They are highly addictive. Perhaps you could try Lorazepam.

Take them as your doctor advised you to. They are helpful only if you fllow rules. If you take to many all the time you will be immuned to them and they will not work for you like they are suppose to.
