Most definitely. I can't think of any more to say than YES.

I agree with the first answer. It really depends on why you are doing daily Bible readings and the sincerity of your prayer. It has helped me but not everyone is the same. When I have time to make it relaxing and meditative I find the best results. When I do not have time to reflect on my readings it is not nearly so useful. You might just try daily readings and see. As for prayer, do that anyway. God Blees You

When you read the Bible it's like you are reading something written to you by your Father and so his thoughts are communicated to you. When you pray it's like talking to your Father on the telephone where you are doing most of the talking.

An individual's mind gets filled up with whatever it comes across each day. If you once had a friend who moved and you stayed in contact with them for a while but gradually you stopped calling or writing to them, then chances are that you rarely think about them and if you were to meet up with them again you would probably have to get to know each other again before your friendship was truly re-established.

On the other hand, if you had a fiancee who went off to a different college before you two were going to get married you probably wouldn't let that distance stop you from staying in close communication with each other since you love one another and plan on spending the rest of your lives together.

It's the same with prayer and Bible reading. If you love God and are looking forward to spending all eternity with Him then, even though you can't see Him face to face you want to have as much communication with Him as you can so that when you meet up it won't be like the friend whom you stopped calling and writing to.

The Lord is never nearer or farther from us, but our sincere intention to know Him is always answered....in the affirmative, and that feels closer. If daily Bible reading and prayer are your sincere efforts, they will most definitely be answered.

Yes.
The true character of God and what He wants from us is only found in the reading of His word. You cannot find your answers as accurately from anyone on this earth as confidentially as you can from just reading the Bible. And yes, it would stand to reason that once you find out about someone you would be able to become closer to HIM!
God Bless You

Let me answer your question with a question. Do you get closer to a person by spending more time with them or less?
The Bible is written communications given to us by God. The scriptures are like reading a letter from a friend. The more time we spend with God the closer we will be to Him.

You can't hear God speak unless you put his word on your heart and the holy spirit has that to draw upon to speak to you from. So yes reading the bible is needed. And prayer does draw you closer and it also atones you to his voice. Prayer changes you in
the process.

Of course it does, the bible is not a dead letter but incarnate and living word of God. There is power in that. Prayer, not necessarily formal prayer but keeping in touch somehow with God would inevitably bring us closer.

YES! That is how you get to know God. He does NOT want religion, He desires a RELATIONSHIP with you. And spending time with someone is exactly how you build a relationship, the more time you spend reading the Bible (God speaking to you) and Praying (you talking to God) the closer you will be to Him.

It is not supposed to bring you closer to the Lord, it is to make you grow in your christian life. It is like having healthy meals every day, it doesn't make you any closer to life, but make you healthy and growing. Too often close to God simply means some emotional feeling where you cry and feel wonderful inside, but really has nothing to do with your spiritual relationship to God. We walk by faith not feelings.
