I would probably guess no. Where are you flying out of? You can probably check on the airport's website, they usually have a list of what you can and cannot bring.

You can bring a curling iron on a plane, straightener has to be in a 3oz. clear plastic bottle.

I'm a guy, so forgive me, but don't a curling iron and straightener cancel each other out?

I would suggest that both of those items you pack in your checked luggage. For the complete list of what you can and can not bring on the aircraft with you I would suggest that you go to the TSA website http://www.tsa.gov/ they have the complete list of items allowed on the aircraft in both your checked and packed luggage.
