The USA (like most countries in the world) no longer allows in anyone who simple wants to live there.

The first page of Google 'emigrate to USA' threw up the 3 links below .. if you are SERIOUS about this you either need to employ and Agency or learn a LOT about how to do your own research ... (asking people on Yahoo does not count as 'research' :-) :-) )

This is a difficult one. The best bet is to search for US employers and find out if they need your skills. If they do then they will arrange the necessary visas for you.
It helps if you have a skill that is highly sought after and in demand. (Computer skills perhaps? Check the US Embassy and other online resources to see what skills are in demand in the USA).
If you have computer skills then check out this website http://www.cciusa.com/faq.html

Alternatively, you could consider joining a US company who have offices in the UK, and then after a few years push for a transfer to the USA.

There may also be an opportunity to get a US visa if you set up your own business there, but you'd need to check this option out thoroughly yourself as I'm not sure.

Good luck !

Not sure on what papers need to be filled out. I would start with the US councelet where you live. Call the embasy they should be able to put you in touch with who you need. I believe that a lawyer can also help speed the process up.
