I have a puppy that doesn't eat dog food. I bought him purina for puppy at his first day at home. At first, he ate the food but the following day, I was surpise that he barely touch the food. I thought that maybe he doesn't want purina so I tried pedigree puppy food... again he doesn't want to eat it. He just smells it and play with it but doesn't eat it.

When I bought some treats (pedigree calbones etc.) it is only then that my puppy started to eat. I am however worried that he might not be taking enough nutrients for his daily needs. WHAT SHOULD I DO TO MAKE MY PUPPY EAT THE PUPPY DOG FOOD EITHER OF PURINA OR PEDIGREE? PLS HELP.

As mentioned, Purina and Pedigree are crap foods. Mostly fillers and byproducts, so if you are worried about your dog getting the correct nutrients, he's certainly not going to get it from those. They'll also poop a lot more with these foods than on a higher quality food, so it's more for you to clean up.

Try natural balance, royal canin, or Castor and Pollux. They are all pretty good brands and dogs seem to gobble the stuff down. If you look at the ingredients on them all you will see the first is always a real food like chicken, rice, etc, It will vary depending on what flavor of food it is. And while the bag may be more than a purina or pedigree, it will end up being cheaper as you can feed your dog less because there is less filler. For example, according to a bag of pedigree, i need to feed my dog about 4-5 cups a day but the bag of Natural Balance says I only need to feed him about 3. You'll end up saving money in the long run.

He may just not like the taste of either of these foods. Again, that may come down to their quality. You can try just giving him his food at dinner time and then taking it after a certain amount of time. He'll eventually get hungry enough to eat. You can also try getting a small bag of one of these higher quality foods and mixing it in half and half to try to get him to eat. Also try hand feeding, sometimes that will work.

A lot of times, when pets go to a new home, they tend to not eat regularly for a few days. A lot of that has to do with the new surroundings, wanting to explore and play, possibly being nervous, and even being off of their normal schedules. If he's only just come home with you, he may be too distracted to be concerned about eating. Give it a few more days and see if he calms down and remembers that he has to eat! You could aslo call the place where you got him and ask them about his eating habit there...what he was eating and when. He may just not be used to eating at the time you are feeding him or what you are feeding him.

If it keeps up, however, you may want to take him to a vet. Could be something more serious going on.

*As Jane mentioned, dogs should not get the same milk we drink. It can cause digestive issues. Get the formula stuff from a pet store, if anything.

The factor of being vegan/vegetarian or some thing of the type is to take a look at and make a stand approximately anything, whether or not or not it's your well being or a few remark on slaughter residences or animal rights. Vegans and vegetarians will have to do probably the most they may be able to, but when they cannot do anything, then they should not. My pal could like to quit all meat, however has a protein deficiency hindrance that does not enable for that, so she nonetheless eats fish a couple of times every week. It's extra approximately assisting the matters you think in to the excellent of your capability than looking to turn out to be a "actual" vegan.

Actually, any dog food is fine. Better dog foods are just that, better. IF the first ingredient on the label is corn, then that tells you there is more corn than anything. More expensive foods contain less corn (sometimes!) and more meat..you hope.

First, don't allow him ANY other food, especially human food. As a puppy, he will wait for those!

Second, try wetting the food with warm water..see if he prefers that.

It could be a food allergy, though not likely. If so, switch to a way more expensive food without corn.

Lastly, dont skip right to the most expensive stuff out there. Be sure he's not getting scraps, give him time to eat. As a puppy, he' s ready to PLAY...so just like with kids, he doesn't want to stop to eat. Let the bowl stand there all day and monitor how much is missing. If he poops...he's been eating.

PS I did the BARF (raw food diet, raw meat and bones) for my dog at one point and I would NOT recommend this for any puppy.

First of all get in contact with a vet. You may try mixing the dry food with some canned food. If he eats that mix slowly decrease the canned food until he will eat the dry alone. Canned food should only be used as a treat once in a while.

You may want to check his mouth and teeth. He may have a sore in his mouth or possibly a bad tooth. Any redness or swelling should be looked at by a vet. He won't want to eat if it hurts.

Please do not give him the milk that you drink. It can cause digestive problems. If you do use milk to soften it use a milk formulated for dogs from a pet store.

Neither of these brands are good food for him. I know you don't want to keep buying dog food and then if he doesn't eat it, you have wasted your money. Leave the dog food out and don't give him anything else. He will eat when he gets hungry enough. When the dog food is almost gone, buy a better brand and switch him over to it. It will cost more m oney but it is worth it.

add milk and allow to soak , he may not be fully weaned and still needs his mama. so float it in milk for a week or so. keep if fresh and clean for if he is a puppy he will eat 6 to 8 times a day in small amounts.
