I have been feeding my staffie this food and am generally happy. I am particularly concerned about ethical issues as I am aware that Iams in particular are cruel to dogs in their testing of food. What do others think?

I've recently switched my lab's food to James Wellbeloved and I'm already seeing significant changes in her coat and general wellbeing. Her extremely waggly tail signifies that she is also happy with the change it seems!

I think their products are great and they do use a lot of organic ingredients which is much better for the environment. Stick to what you're happy with, especially if other brands have an immoral stance on testing.

Hi, I recently got some samples of this & my sometimes picky dog really liked it ... not enough in the samples though to see if there was any significant improvement in her condition but then, she's in good condition anyway.

The taste must be excellent though as the cats were trying to eat it too!

Haven't come across any website that says there is an ethical problem with the treatment in animals during the testing of this brand either - though Pedigree do test their food on animals & James WellBeloved is made by Pedigree.

Personally I don't see a problem with some tests (taste test, etc) - it's only those dreadful ones that Iams are alledged to do that I really disagree with.

Have a look here for 'recommended' brands:

Unfortunately, I only recognise the name of one of the 'recommended' brands & I'm not sure that they are readily available except by mail order.

Hope this helps

I feed my staffie and my cat James WB and I am happy too. I have heard a lot recently about the testing going on with Iams and I have heard of a lot of products this week that are also cruel in their testing but I have not heard anything about JWB

JW is good stuff. Our old dog had a lot of digestion troubles and it was the only commercial food he could tolerate. Also he seemed to like the taste. I'm feeding a puppy on it now & he's doing well. His mother had some allergies and JW suits her too. I know the quality of the ingredients is supposed to be good ---- natural etc and I haven't heard anything bad about it ethically.

I've heard the Iams/Eukanuba story and their testing and so stopped using it. My young Golden Retriever has eaten James Wellbeloved all her life and is thriving on it! It was recommended by the Breeder too, particularly for its hypo-allergenic issues. Turkey and rice kibble is my dog's favourite!!

I have a dodgy tummy, get the runs at the slightest problem. Dad gives me Bakers Complete dry food with the occasional snack, baked beans etc. in small quantities or a little cheese. I love it and the variety of texture and taste is good. Also, the price is within budget.

Jameswellbeloved is the only food my Dally can have. He has a sensitive stomach and we have tried a few but not iams. I would not use it it is overpriced crap. Burns is also a good food but jwb definately made a difference to my dog. His coat and behaviour is great. Eukaneuba (spelling) was terrible, gave him the runs and he was a maniac.

james wellbeloved is good stuff. Iams is vile American rubbish and they do terrible cruel animal testing to produce it. Burns is another good one.
