Fresh milk? Doesn't matter. Whichever you prefer. The problem is the TDZ, or temperature danger zone. Between 40 and 145 Fahrenheit, bacteria multiplies in food. The longer the milk is kept warm, the more bacteria, the more chance it goes bad. The most that we keep food in this state is 4 hours from start to finish...not because we honestly believe that food will go bad in 4 hours, but because it MIGHT go bad in 4 hours. After all, we have no idea how long that food has been out before we got to it.

We're actually at a much less chance of getting food poisoning from milk then say, meats and eggs (and the health department does a pretty good job of watching meat and eggs. Most outbreaks of food poisoning comes not from bad food, but bad sanitation from the preparers. We can wash our hands 30 times a day here...per person). Milk is pasteurized, which kills pretty much everything. However, there is always a chance that there is some contamination, and the moment you open the container...well, now you DO have contamination. This is why milk kept cold keeps for quite a while (up to a month in some cases) while kept warm, no time at all.

I'd say find out which you prefer, but keep the milk cold until you are ready to drink it. Then heat it in the microwave or on the stove if you prefer warm.

Neither is actually better. In my opinion I like cold milk, but that is an opinion. You cannot actually answer this question without giving an opinon. Warm milk just makes you sleepy. So if you're going to be up for a long time, cold milk is the better choice. Tryptophan is an ingredient in milk. It makes people sleepy. The warmth of the milk can also raise your body temperature enough to get your body to move slower.

I only like warm milk in warm drinks. I like cold milk in cold drinks.

But overall, I prefer cold milk.

I do prefer Vanilla Soymilk over milk, though.

Cold. Ice cold. But not almost frozen or with ice cubes. I can't touch warm milk. I gag. Yes, I'm picky.
