Tuberculosis is caused by a bacterium called Mycobacterium tuberculosis and it has nothing to do with smoking. Cancer, on the other hand, has a direct relationship to putting carcinogens in your body (ie. smoking).
This sounds like someone is filling your head with anti-tobacco propaganda.
There is no direct link between TB and smoking. TB is caused by exposure to the disease in the right conditions. There may be indirect associations, but the evidence has not been found and reproduced in double-blind clinical trials, so all conclusions are speculative. This is not the case with Cancer. Cancer has a direct reproducible link to smoking, especially lung cancers, throat and mouth cancers, and bladder cancers.
PS. Med Student I'm a doctor (MD) and I know how to spell Mycobacterium

TB is an infectious disease, which means you have to catch it from someone else who has it.
All the smoking in the world will not give you TB if you have never met anyone with the disease.
Smoking does cause cancers of many kinds, so there's your answer
