Proper etiquette calls for both. There is a conflict as to whether you wear the wedding ring on the inside or out. In the older days, if there was an engagement ring, the day of the wedding, the engagement ring was placed on the right hand. When the wedding ring goes on the finger, your finger was to be bare, representing purity. The next day, you put your engagement ring on your left hand again. So, with that in mind, etiqiette calls for wedding band first, then the engagement ring, if there is one. (Some religions prohibit engagement rings as they are "costly array".) It is your choice as to whether you wear both rings or not. Some women gain weight over the years and get a second wedding band in a larger size and only wear that one. I am not sure of the etiquette on that issue. Hope this helps.

Before I start congratulation! Ok back to the question! It is really a matter of choice. most people I know wear both theie wedding and engagement rings as they say it is a reminder of the steps and memories in their relationship. Some people also wear a etternity ring on the same finger also. Really it comes down to weather it feels comfy to you and weather you want to wear both at the end of the day thats your choice. However if you do decide to wear both, ive been told that you should at least take the engagement ring of for your wedding ceramonie and then put it back on after. I believe that you wear the engagement ring first followed by the wedding ring and then etternity ring if you chose to have one, as this is the order of events in your relationship. Best of luck and good wishes for your future.

Some people choose not to, my friend got a beautiful Jewel encrusted wedding ring and her engagement ring looked funny sitting with it, so she wears that on her right hand now. However, I do believe that it is more common to wear both. My engagement ring is eternity style so I won't get an eternity ring, I will only wear 2 rings when I get married

Yes of course, but the wedding ring is worn first, with the engagement ring on last, so being that you can remove the engagement ring without disturbing the wedding ring which is never taken off.

Proper etiquette would be as follows...the bride is supposed to wear her engaement ring at all times up until the wedding day. After the wedding day she is supposed to wear the band at all times and her engagement ring is suppsoed to be worn with the band either on special occasions or when the two of you go out, other than that she is supposed to keep it in a sacred place for proper caring especially if the diamond is really valuable.

This is how its supposed to be but nowadays everyone does as they please so its really all up to you and your preferences.

Yes, the two are not related though. So your religion may deem only the wedding band is worn - you can't wear dowries of sheep!

In England the engagement ring is a symbol of the value the man places on the feelings he has for the woman (rule of thumb: three months salary = rings value), the wedding band is a symbol of the religious or civil bond sworn between the man and woman, which is why a man should have one too.

Yes, there is no harm especially as they do hold sentimental value to the person. In many cases they are very expensive and the wearer has a lot of attachment to them. Secondly, from experience, most men do remove the engagement rings but retain the wedding rings while the women prefer having them both. The whole thing depends on the wearer of the rings and as I always say, do what makes you happy as it will not harm your relationship. All the best and good luck in your marriage!

Yes, Traditionally both rings are worn together on the left hand ring finger. Most brides generally move the engagement ring to their right hand durning the ceremony and then return it to the left afterwards. However, if your wedding band is too elaborate or does not match your engagement ring, you may wear the engagement ring on your right.

Yes, you wear the engagement ring on top of the wedding band. However, there are times when I just wear the wedding band.

I believe the tradition is that, on the day of your wedding, you wear your engagement ring on the right hand ring finger instead. when you are married and have your new wedding ring, you then put the engagement ring on the left hand ring finger.
