Yes there is such thing. A person who may come from an abusive home or may have been abused may in turn become a criminal. That person will become a repeat offender because not only do these behaviors come from their home environment (nurture) but also from their biologiocal makeup and genes (nature) that are innate characteristics.
People who are criminals are known to be called "typical" because they fit a profile. Most offenders which are males, are white, young to middle aged males that were abused or outkasts in their homes and in their communities. Many of them are extrememly intelligent individuals that are antisocial and show little or no remorse for their wrong-doings because they lack the ability to care, also known as Antisocialism.
Many people decide to study these bahviors due to the vast variety of information on these "types" of criminals, also known as Behavioral Criminologists, or Criminologists.
I do believe there is a "type" of criminal because of the research that I have seen while writing papers and while learning in school. There are also theories stating that depending on your physical attributes, you may be classified and labeled as a "could be" criminal. Depending on a male or females body structure, it has been said that certain body types can mean that you are more likely to be or become a criminal simply because of your build.
Hope I helped. You can find more info by taking a sociology course, or by simply looking up these theorists:
Charles Drawin, Emile Durkheim, and Sigmund Freud to name a few...

Asley C has spent to much time in the world of academia. The debate regarding your question has been going on for well over a century, perhaps two. Take it from me....three decades as a street cop...there is no such thing as a "typical" criminal. The bottom line is....laws create criminals. No laws...no criminals. So your question should be...are some people more likely to break the law than others? Think about this. As incredibly complex as the human mind is, how can one possibly "typify" a human behavior. You might as well try to quantify the "typical" lover, or friend, or parent. Everybody breaks the law, therefore everyone is a criminal, at some point in their lives...even cops. So why do people like Ashley C spend so much time trying to figure it out? Give it up girl, you never will.

I don't believe in any of this "abused as a child" nonsense.
People are criminals because at some point in their life they made a concious decision to become a ****. I've met people from rubbish homes who have led good lives, and people from families that earn more than me in 3 seconds who have turned into proper idiots.
Saying that, the "typical criminal" in the UK is white, male, aged between 16-22 and is from a "lower class" background or a family with a history of criminality.

Think the answer is Yes. If you are human you are undoubtedly a "criminal" I doubt that anyone has not committed a "crime" of some sort or another these days. They may not have got caught, they may not even Know that they have committed a crime, but sure as hell we will all have done it! Anything from the person driving in the morning with a hangover from the night before ,exceeding the speed limit when you are not aware of the actual limit there,to the more elaborate and Bigger crimes, like invading Iraq.

I think background will come into it and where one lives. There are some communities where mistrust of the law/police is endemic - that sort of environment is more likely to breed criminals. If the family one lives in is like that too, that'll have an effect. A typical criminal may well come from a poorer background and perhaps a broken home or one where there are other criminals

Believe it or not, yes. There are certain behaviors that are inherent to specific personality types in relation to certain types of crime,,,, even specific crimes. There's been lots of studies done and there's tons of literature out there on the subject.

Yes there is.
Look at convicted child molestors pictures and you can see most of them look like they are child molestors.
I am serious, look them up on registered offenders lists.
It's uncanny.
