I bought it last Saturday (1/13) for a dish I never made. I plan to make it this Saturday - do you think it's still good or should I get more? It's been in the bag, unopened since I bought it.

hi there
i work in the service deli department.
if i was to buy prosciutto my self , i would take out of the wrapper it came in. place the prosciutto in some baking paper, layer by layer. then store it in a air tight container.
it will keep longer as the bag tends to sweat a little. i don't recommend keeping it any longer then 7 days once sliced

Prosciutto is a cured meat, so it has a pretty long shelf life if kept properly.
Unless your prosciutto was already boderline "off" when you got it, it shouhld be just fine for a week and maybe longer.
To be safe, give it a sniff before using, you'll know right away f it's okay!

There should be a "best before date" on the package. Check for it first, but I think it'll be fine. I have had opened (resealed) proscuitto for over a week before it went.

Can be frozen in parcels of desired amount to be used per serve, but in the fridge, I wouldn,t like to keep more than 5 days, and covered of course, not in plastic.
Grease prrof paper and then in a lidded container. coldest part of the fridge.
Remember if in doubt throw it out.= particularly dairy and processed meats, fish and poultry.
