Try this free software. www.pdf995.com
Convert your scan into a pdf then use the pdf995 editor to convert the file to word.

You creat the pdf by printing your scan to the PDF995 driver that installs.

The editor will be located in All Programs > Software 995 and you will use the Text tab to extract the text and convert a pdf to .doc.

Hope this helps!

Usually a scanned document is just a picture and you will not be able to open it in a Text Editor. You may or may not be able to edit it at all - depends on the following. If you have a program that edits PDFs, you have to have scanned your document as a PDF or a TIF. Also you would need to have done the OCR (Optical Character Recognition). That means the program will look at the picture and make its best guess as to the editable words on the page. This will always work better if you scan at a higher resolution. I would recommend at least 300 dpi if you are going to do OCR. You may need a different program to do that. If you scanned in your document as a JPG or BMP, you can open it in a simple graphics program such as Microsoft Paint. Then you can "write" on it, but you won't be able to really edit it. Hope that helps!

hi,

While using HP Director to scan, you get an option of scanning the document as editable text/ editable text and graphics. Select the one which you want and then save it as .rtf/html. Once saved you can edit it/ copy it to MS WORD.

hope this helps....
