These people responding really need to take a minute or two to research their answers. It sure gets to be a pain when I have to constantly correct them.

If you live in a state that treats the spouses income as combined with yours. Therefore, it is possible for one spouse to file bankruptcy. Any debts that are joint will be forced on the spouse though.

You need to go over this very carefully with your bankruptcy attorney. I'm not about to touch it here with the info you gave.

It will effect him if you have a house in joint names as the Receiver will have to repossess if you cannot clear the debt in full from other sources. They will just give him 50% of the equity. If you do not have joint debts or significant assets then it will probably have no efffect on him. Take proper advice from Citizens Advice or a relevant Solicitor first.

Yes. It is like buying a house together. You are married meaning you are one.

It will only affect your husband if purchases are in joint names. If you've kept your finances separate there will be no impact on him.

try www.debtadvicebureau.org.uk.
I don't think it will have an impact on him unless it's a joint debt.
