I keep my card in my wallet at all times how then does a debit card become demagnitized? I have a loc (line of credit) attached to my checking account. does this have something to do with that? if so how/why would that matter? Any information would be helpful in the mean time should I just wait for the new card in march or get my current card remagnitized and continue to use it in the mean time?

Just call your bank telling them the magnetic stip no longer works and you need a new one. It will take a few days but they will have no problem sending you one. The magnetic strip and line of credit have nothing to do with each other.

Also, 99% of the business will not manually enter in card numbers anymore because of the amount of fraud.

You will need to get a new card. If you have two cards touching, that could demagnetize them. Also, if you place the card on the scanner or demagnetizer at the check out, that would do it too.
Stores can manually enter your information while you wait for your new card, you just have to ask them to do it as it takes longer.

It just gets worn out, not much else to do but wait for the new card. Most places of business can manually input your card number. Never heard of having it remagnitized, is that really possible.

Get your card fixed if you want to use it. Or your bank will issue you a new one upon request. Mine did the same thing after 6 years, who knows.
