The dog is now realizing what the crate is for.

Just keep at it. But don't put the dog in when it isn't needed. If you're sitting in the next room relaxing and the dog is cooped up its only logical that its going to be very against the idea of being confined.

However, if you're not at home or sleeping the dog will soon realize that complaining and making a fuss won't change anything.

Remember that the crate should not be used as a place for 'punishment' at all during this time period. Always reward the dog a lot when he's in his crate and being quiet. Leave the door open when you're playing with him and toss treats in there.
I went to puppy camp last month and played crate games with my rescue pup. She now _flies_ into her crate when I ask her to. Here's a link:

My dog also didn't like going in his crate at first but now he knows that when I leave he has to go in there and he doesn't give me any problems. Give it some time the dog will come around.

Crate too small and leaving in too long between exercise and bathroom breaks. Should have area where crate is not necessary except to sleep at night.

other people will disagree with me because they have in the past for my opinions of crate training. i understand it had worked for some people, but it doesnt change my opinion. i think it is really wrong to crate a dog.

you bring a dog into your house as a family member. you adopt it... just as u would adopt a child. would u put ur new child in a cage?? i think that putting ur dog in a crate is the same as caging it. it is not fair to cage it up... no matter how long u leave it in there for... it is wrong. ask urself... would u like it? if u wouldnt like it then why would u o it 2 ur dog?

there are PLENTY of ways to train ur dog without caging it. its totally unnecessary. please dont crate ur dog. it has feelings... if u wouldnt like it, chances are, ur dog wouldnt either. thats probably why its barking. it wants to get out and be with its "parents". it doesnt wanna b confined.

Ya he wants out. I gave my dog a kong filled with treats and sealed with peanut butter and frozon, it takes them forever to get through and they're quiet.
