Falun Gong is a semi-religious, semi-qi gong cult. The leader summarized parts of Buddhist and Taoist teachings, simplified basic qi gong practices, and declared himself part god, and profited in the tens of millions of dollars. I'm not saying the teachings are bad or useless, but at the very least, the organization is suspect. And China's ban on Falun Gong and other cults resulted only in a sharp increase of international membership, providing sympathy, money and power to the organization.

I think Falon Gong is a dissident group in mainland China, not a Martial Art. You might try asking in the China or politics boards.

It is an exercise program - a form of qigong (chinese yoga)
It is claimed to be special because it is good not just for your body, but it also is supposed to make you into a better person. Which is why some consider it a religion and the chinese government has banned it.

fauln gong is a cult.
Thier leader steals thier money and pretends to be a god.
This is one of the few instances of censorship and actions where the chinese government's actions happen to be appropriate, and the rest of the world opposing thier treatment of it happen to be wrong.

I'm with Bluto on this... They have achieved cult status.
The ultimate goal is to be god like in power with humble thoughts.
Like many things, some of the ideas are good... others...
