all told, over 50 million died as a result of ww2. about 25 million were military, mostly russians, and the rest were civilians. the total us loss was about 600,000, the japanese, about 1.1 million soldiers and 350,000 civilians, the germans, about 6-8 million military, 2-3 million civilians, the russians, 15-20 million military 5-10 million civilions, other countries, 1-5 million, mostly civilian.
these are just estimates from memory, and may be far off.
the greatest losses occurred on the russian-german front with about 25 -30 million dead between them, not counting civilians.
