There are only about 20 PROFESSIONAL golfers that average over 300yds. (official PGA stats) But the average PGA pro is at 289. There are some pro's that are as low as 238. I agree with one of the previous posters, people think they hit it farther than they really do. I have found the average handicapper (15 for men, 23 for women) will drive the ball 224 yards. I am a teaching pro in Florida.

Pros about 260 to 310 on the average.
Non-pros from 100 to 300. but the average is only about 210. Sounds maybe like a small difference but the pros also hit a high percentage in bounds and consistantly down the fairway.

Probably 260-270 for less than 5 handicap and 10-15 yards less for every 5 handicap points over 5.
So around 250 for a 10 handicap
230-240 for a 15 handicap
210-220 for a 20 handicap

There is no average distance because there are too many diffrent people playing. Anywhere from 5 year olds to 90 years and they hit the ball anywhere from 25 yards to 300+ yards. I can hit it 310 but my avarage is 280.

I'd say for someone who is between a 10 and 20 handicap their average driving distance is 240 yards... it does not seem long but you have to figure in that for every one that they hit 280, they hit 10 that go about 220....

They don't have a way for you to find that out actually. The PGA guys that I know that teach are really good players and they hit it a mile. Then there are the ones that don't really play golf at all that really can't hit it anywhere. My rule of thumb is if you can't beat me on the course I sure as he** don't want you teaching me. LOL interesting question I must say. They really need to get a breakdown of that. Would be a cool thing to find out about.

I hit the ball on a good drive about 220 yards. That's a good drive, mind you, about 2 a round. Usually about 200 so it makes those 425 yard par 4s par 5s.

The distance varies by golfer. When doing course ratings, the USGA uses a standard distance of 250 yards for scratch golfers and 200 yards for bogey golfers. Most folks think they hit it farther than they do.

That depends on age, sex, equipment.
I can often drive par 4's on municipal courses, and know people that can drive further than me.
So I would say that they can drive much the same as a comparable pro, just not as straight, and not as often
