You've answered your own question!! His diet is shocking, therefore his health must be shocking too.
If he refuses to eat healthy stuff, there are books on techniques of hiding greens in their food without them realising. Even making fresh smoothies once or twice a day will help, and all kids love them.
I would take him to the doctor first, and get a blood test. Then I would stop buying sweets, chocolate and fizzy drinks. If they are not in the house, he can't have them. And only make fresh healthy meals, with fruit as a snack food. He'll probably refuse to eat it at first, but when he gets hungry enough he'll tuck into it alright. Chocolate and fizzy rubbish should only appear at children's parties as a treat.

He is abviously addicted. Make him realize the consequences.
My small sister is the same she used to take too much sugar, chocolates, juices too much of them and gas drinks.
She completely stopped when mom showed her some pictures of diabetes patients when they have to live without legs and other complications.
Dont show horrible pictures, just some decent pictures of the consequences, give him examples.
Tell him he can have them once or twice a week.
Get him to do outdoor activities often as a family, then buy him water then explain the best way to satisfy thirst is plain water.
He needs to grow to be a healthy man . Show him examples of atheletes and actors.
I hope he can change soon enuff.

My daughter always used to drink Pepsi max and to be honest when we didn't buy any she reacted like she was addicted to it mood swings, temper tantrums and argumentative . I have now limited her ,i started of by allowing her one drink of Pepsi as long as her next drink she had was fruit juice etc . It has worked well and now she is down to only one fizzy drink a day. I found her to be quite lethargic when drinking it . My daughter craves crisps so i have restricted them also . My advice to you would be start restricting the pop and chocolate gradually maybe also take him for a check up at the doctors just to rule out him being anaemic etc .
Best of luck and remember you acting in your sons best interest by tackling these problems .

firstly, your son is on a wtrong kind of diet.
if hes under 5yrs old, i sugest you see the health visitor.
if her over then you are to take him to supermarket and dont let him put anything in the troll to do with chocolate, sewwts, pop etc. instead go to the fruit and veg section and let your son choose his own fruit. kids love bananas, grapes , or strawberries. if he isnt interested buy some anyway and at home when hes craving for pop and chocolate you try make him eat fruit and water-juice. he'll soon prefer to eat that than chocolate.
you cant let him have his own way as hes prob dehydrating from all the pop and it isnt healthy for him. when hes used to the fruit, then it will be ok to let him have a treat from now and then.

It is a symptom of low blood sugar, I myself suffer with a low level, thus I have to be careful not to drive it down lower.
Things that can push it down are,
not eating properly
too much alcohol
cannabis (hence the "munchies")
too much exercise,
I used to cycle many miles and during a long training ride there were several times that I needed to stop and guzzle coke and chocolate, to offset shakieness

he may be diabetic, pop is no good for him, put him on fresh juices, my 3 (15,13 and 11) used to love pop, but at the beginning of last year, I banned it from the house. They didnt like it at first, but now they love Pineapple juice, orange juice and apple juice. If he is always thirsty, I would get him tested for diabetes and stop him drinking fizzy pop in the meantime.

Sounds pretty normal to me...craving all those sweet things...but make sure he is combining lots of excercise with these foods...and if still in doubt...a checkup at the doctors is the next best thing.

Would be a good idea to see a Dr just to make sure. Fizzy drinks are not good. I too banned them and although it wasn't a popular decision my girls now complain when we run out of fruit juice. It's worth putting your foot down - they do adjust and accept it.

Could be anemic and needs to go and have a blood test done. Continuing this diet will really be harmful to his health - make sure that he eats plenty of food with iron in it such as spinach.
