I did the job for 4 years and its basically just being a waitress in the sky. Unless there is an emergency, and we did have a few. There were elements of glamour, one staff party was on a boat on the river Seine. Mostly though the pay isnt that good, the hotels arent always that nice and your constantly knackered.
Another perk was the 'sky shopping' when we helped oururselves to the booze in the trolley and would drink it back in the crew room. Those nights could get messy...

No, your constantly knackered, all you friends that work 9-5 M-F are never up for a big nite out when you are off mid-week. Even when you get time off down route most people get **** faced the first night to combat whatever jet lag they have got.

The airlines don't let you take your holidays when you want to, it's on an allocated basis dependant on your length of service. So, even if you do want to go on hols with your mates they are all dependant on your schedule!

The pay is really bad, you get allowances in local currency so you mostly lose out on the exchange rate with a strong pound. If you get free flights their are almost impossible to take as they are on standy by and as you can't have holiday when you like you can't plan in advance!

Overall, I did the job for four and a half yrs and hated the last two of those......because you kind of get sucked in and it's hard to leave because it's a really easy job - turn up, work your flight go home no worries, you don't take your job home with you.

The most glamourous bit is walking from your car in to your offcie to check in for flights.

Goombie, you are absolutely right! :-)
Although this job attracts some wild individuals most are just ordinary people, but with added jetlag, constant tiredness and missing their friends. Your social life outside work is almost non-existent... On your days off you are so knackered you don't even want to leave bed...
No, glamour is gone... you really are just a trolley dolley!

And, believe it or not, this job is the loneliest of all! And suicide rate is quite high.

So to answer your question... well, I think you get the point.

My sister was a stewardess in the 70's and it was a very glamourous life, they had to put their hair up with a little hat on top and wear lots of make up and false eyelashes and high heels. She had a fantastic time but I think relatively the pay was better then and the image was far better. Some of the stewardesses these days are fat and look like they just crawled ourt of bed.

Stewardesses eh! ...us guys are mad about them - even the older ones look hot in their uniform.... I think the Gay Stewards live more of a high life than the women ... I went out with a Stewardess - she was always knackered ...don't know if it was from the all the travelling or all the bonking... she was pissed most of the time she wasn't in the air... Yes! I think they do live the high life we dream that they do..

One of my friend is an air hostess. She claims that they have wild times with many pilots and with other attendents a lot of times.

Other than that, their outside social life is very dull as the job is stressful and takes a toll on their health.

But sex is rocking :)
