in the u.k is it aloud for police to use a normal cam or vidio camara to record on comeing drivers for the purpose of speeding,as far as i new i thought someone was pointing a lazor gun at me,they had no police uniforms on,

Yes. There are also areas where members of the public use the same equipment,supplied by police,that record drivers speed. The findings are then sent to the police. If a drivers number appears a few times, then he/she will receive notification and a warning. Persistent speeders then get a summons.
This is done in areas where local people are fighting to get the speed limits reduced through villages. The idea is that it provides proof to the Council that there IS a need in that particular area for a reduction in the speed limit.Its all perfectly legal,and all done with the knowledge of the Police and Councils.

The latest speed cameras also video the driver so you CAN'T claim you weren't driving.
