We where responsible for helping put Ho Chi Min in power. We sent troops as "Advisers" to Vietnam at the end of the Korean war to help fight the Chinese. Once we realized what a nut case he was, we had a moral responsibility to end it.

This is because of the "containment" policy that dictated the U.S. foreign policy at the time. North Vietnam had a communist-installed government while South Vietnam had a democratic government. There was an ongoing conflict between North Vietnam and South Vietnam at the time. The U.S. involvement was to prevent North Vietnam from taking over South Vietnam. The U.S. believed that if South Vietnam is allowed to fall to the communists, the rest of South-East Asia will follow. So, the U.S. decided to support South Vietnam at all cost. North Vietnam was in turn supported by the Soviet Union.

placing aside the racist feedback, which neither you nor everyone else could desire to be spoken to in this form of style, the question handy is a somewhat complicated one. it may be folly to assert the conflict began after the 2nd international conflict, in spite of if it incredibly is a protracted way less difficult. the 1st real Vietnam conflict as we see it befell between the colonial French and the Vietnamese. The French had held the area, referred to as French Indochina, considering 1885. Into the 20 th century, activities like the Russian Revolution could have a profound result on the idealogies of many in the area who felt a definite connection with the oppressed peasents, yet greater on that later. besides, with the 2nd international conflict, France fell to Nazi Germany, and Vichy France gave the territory over to the jap, who began a brutal campain of imperialism. The Vietnamese, then later the Allies, waged a conflict to objective to push lower back the jap. right now after the conflict, in spite of if, the French tried to reclaim the area in some semblence of conserving an empire. The Vietnamese, who were advised via the U. S. have been to be seen autonomous, have been understandably pissed. the foremost jap fighter, a guy via the call of Ho Chi Minh, now took the conflict to the French. In 1954, the Viet Minh pushed out the French. in spite of if, their victory would not final lengthy. the U. S. held 3 good ties in the area that would not enable them to enable the concern bypass unchecked. Following WWII, the French have been good allies to the U. S., as became South Vietnam, a semi-democratic state widespread as a French puppet goverment. ultimately, and in line with danger maximum heavily, China and 0.5 of Korea had recently fallen to Communism, besides as Cuba a protracted way closer to homestead. The chilly conflict became accomplishing on of it incredibly is warmer parts, and u.s. desperate Vietnam became the place it may draw the line (referred to as Containment or the Truman Doctrine). the U. S. became worried, in line with danger rightfully so, that if South Vietnam have been to fall and not utilising a combat, the the remainder of u.s.'s allies could fall like dominos (Domino concept). What observed became u.s.'s longest conflict, the Vietnam conflict, taking the lives of purely approximately 3 hundred thousand on the yank-South Vietnamese-Allies factor and upwards of a million on the North's factor, with over 3 and a 0.5 million civillian casualties between them. that's what the conflict became approximately.
